Additional information regarding Share:
There are hundreds of children in Clark County that receive free breakfast and lunch at our schools on weekdays, but are unsure where they can find a meal on the weekends. Share has developed a program that attempts to curb that hunger—the Backpack Program.
Currently, 1,500+ bags of food are filled with donated, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food. The bags are then distributed to 62 schools in the Vancouver, Evergreen, Battle Ground, Washougal and Ridgefield School Districts. Packs include seven items: a protein, a grain, a canned meal, a boxed meal, a vegetable, a fruit and a snack. The bags are discretely given out each Friday for kids to take home on the weekends.
