Coldwell Banker Commercial is hosting their 2nd annual food drive benefiting Share of Vancouver's Back Pack Program. The office is accepting non-perishable food items November 1st - December 14th, 2012 during the business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Items that are suggested for donation include but are not limited to:
Tuna (small cans)
Dry, uncooked pasta
Instant mashed potatoes
Boxed meals (hamburger helper, macaroni & cheese, etc.)
Canned fruits and vegetables
Cereal (low sugar, high fiber is best)
Please consider item size. All foods need to fit in a standard backpack. As these are also being distributed to young children, glass is not included in the bags, plastic jars and containers are preferred.
You can also help by posting a flyer or setting out cards with our food drive information at your own place of business. Please contact us at (360) 699-4494 if you're interested or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Additional information regarding Share:
There are hundreds of children in Clark County that receive free breakfast and lunch at our schools on weekdays, but are unsure where they can find a meal on the weekends. Share has developed a program that attempts to curb that hunger—the Backpack Program.
Currently, 1,500+ bags of food are filled with donated, non-perishable, easy-to-prepare food. The bags are then distributed to 62 schools in the Vancouver, Evergreen, Battle Ground, Washougal and Ridgefield School Districts. Packs include seven items: a protein, a grain, a canned meal, a boxed meal, a vegetable, a fruit and a snack. The bags are discretely given out each Friday for kids to take home on the weekends.
